Valorie Bader, Of Counsel
Valorie Bader’s practice is specifically in the areas of employment counseling, training, employment litigation and mechanic liens. Valorie is forward-thinking and stays updated with new challenges in employment law due to advancements in technology as well as the impact federal and state policy changes on the workforce. Valorie has 30 years of experience in evaluating current employment practices, identifying risks and developing compliance strategies for employers in every aspect of employment, including a broad array of claims relating to types of pay, reimbursements, leaves and other wage and hour claims, Bureau of Field Enforcement and Cal-OSHA citations, accommodation and workers' compensation return to work issues, immigration compliance, all forms of harassment, employee privacy and social media questions, and other regulations applicable to employment.
Valorie has a unique perspective on employment claims since she has represented some employees as well as employers throughout her career, and had a professional affiliation with The Personnel Perspectives, a human resources firm, from July 2000 through November 2003 as a consultant and in-house counsel. Prior to becoming an attorney she administered the workers' compensation and long term disability programs at the County of Sonoma's Risk Management Department. She also has experience with many governmental and administrative agencies, including: Labor Commissioner, Bureau of Field Enforcement, Employment Development Department, Workers Compensation Appeals Board (132a Defense only), Cal-OSHA, Department of Fair Employment and Housing/Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, California Department of Licensing, California Department of Insurance, Cal-PERS, California State Personnel Board, California Unemployment Insurance Appeals Board, Office of Administrative Hearings and Appeals, and the Occupational Safety & Health Appeals Board.
Valorie has performed numerous workshops and trainings in diverse topics related to employment issues, extensively written in the subjects of employment law, and appeared in the Sonoma Business Journal and the Press Democrat. She has also taught specific employment law classes for the Santa Rosa Junior College in the Employment Certification and Culinary Arts programs. She was part of the California Legislative 2003/2004 Workers' Compensation Task Force reforms.
